MCA Small Vessel Coding
Officially appointed surveyors for SCMS and MECAL · surveyor confirmed within two hours, 24/7 · report ready in two working days · no surcharges for nights, weekends or short notice.
What you get
A coding inspection carried out by a surveyor officially appointed by SCMS and MECAL, authorised for all coding inspections on UK-registered and affiliated small commercial vessels.
The completed paperwork submitted to the certifying authority, so you deal with one party instead of chasing the file yourself.
A pre-inspection list of what has to be right on the day. This is where most first-time failures actually come from.
A findings list handed over before we leave the vessel: what stops certification today, and what can follow later.
Workboat Code Edition 3: the deadline is 13 December 2026
If your vessel still holds five-year certification under the Brown Code, MGN 280(M) or Workboat Code Edition 2 Amendment 1, it has to meet Edition 3 at its next renewal examination or by 13 December 2026, whichever is later.
The MCA and the Workboat Association have both warned that survey capacity is the bottleneck: vessels risk lying alongside while they wait for a certifying authority. Check the code, prepare the vessel, book the survey.
Tell us the vessel and we will tell you today whether the window still works.
How we work
Tell us the vessel and the port. Vessel name or IMO number, port, and your window. Form, phone or WhatsApp — we answer at night and at weekends.
Confirmation, usually within two hours. You get the assigned surveyor's name and appointment with the confirmation, so you know who is coming before anyone boards.
Pre-arrival pack to the vessel. A short document list and what the crew should have ready — so the attendance is not spent looking for certificates.
Debrief before we leave, report in two working days. The master sees every finding, with the evidence, before we are off the gangway. Nothing in the report is a surprise.
Why us
Short notice is the normal case. A surveyor is usually confirmed within two hours, around the clock.
No surcharges. At all. Nights, weekends, public holidays, short notice — the quote is the price.
Our surveyors are on your coast. Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands. No surveyor flown in from the UK, and no travel surcharge on your invoice.
